Privacy Policy

Short version: we collect the little we need to run a karaoke night, we never see your card details or your tip money, and we do not sell anything to anyone.

1. Who this covers

Two different people use EZKJ, and we treat them differently.

• Hosts (KJs) hold an account with us. We are responsible for their data.
• Singers do not have accounts. They give their details to the KJ through our request page. The KJ decides what to collect and what to put on the screen; we hold and display it on the KJ's behalf.

2. What we collect

From hosts

• Email address, used to sign you in and to contact you about your account.
• The display name, city and state you give during setup, and venue names you add.
• Your tip jar settings — the service and handle or link you nominate. Not amounts.
• Answers to the short setup questions about how you host, used to improve the product.
• Your session history: nights run, songs queued and played.

From singers

• The name they want announced, the song and artist requested, and an optional social handle.

Singers should assume that what they submit is shown publicly on a screen in the room and to other singers on the request page.

Automatically

• Standard server and security logs, including IP address and browser type, kept for a short period to keep the service working and to prevent abuse.

3. What we do not collect

• Card and bank details. Payments are handled by Stripe and never reach our servers.
• Tip amounts or tip payment data. We only render a link or QR code to the service you nominate. Money moves directly between the tipper and the KJ.
• Location data, contacts, microphone or camera access — except the display device camera, only if a KJ explicitly turns on the camera feature, and that video is never sent to us.

4. How we use it

To run the service: sign you in, show the rotation, drive the screen, take requests. To keep it working and secure. To contact you about your account or a problem with your night. To understand which features are used so we can improve them. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for advertising.

5. Cookies and storage

We store your sign-in session in your browser so you stay logged in. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

The display page embeds YouTube's player. When it loads, Google may set cookies and receive data about the device, under the Google Privacy Policy. That happens between the viewing device and Google; we do not receive it.

6. Who we share it with

We use a small number of providers to run EZKJ. They process data on our instructions only.

• Supabase — database and sign-in (United States).
• Vercel — website hosting.
• Resend — sending sign-in codes and account email.
• Stripe — subscription payments.
• YouTube / Google — the embedded video player, as described above.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the rights and safety of users or the public. If EZKJ is ever sold or merged, account data may transfer as part of that, and we will give notice first.

7. How long we keep it

Account information is kept while your account is open. Rotation and request history is kept [RETENTION PERIOD] so hosts can look back at previous nights, then deleted or anonymised. Logs are kept for a short period. If you close your account we delete or anonymise your data within [DELETION WINDOW], except where we must keep records for tax or legal reasons.

8. Your choices

You can ask us to give you a copy of your data, correct it, or delete it, by emailing hello@ezkj.app. A singer who wants their name taken off a rotation should ask the KJ running that night, who can remove it immediately; they can also contact us and we will help.

9. Children

EZKJ host accounts are for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Karaoke happens in all sorts of venues, so a KJ running an all-ages room should be thoughtful about putting a child's name and social handle on a public screen, and should not accept one if in doubt. If you believe a child has given us information, email us and we will remove it.

10. Security

Data is encrypted in transit. Access to a night's data is restricted at the database level so one host cannot reach another host's rotation. Sign-in uses one-time email codes rather than passwords. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11. Changes

If we change this policy materially we will update the date above and tell you by email or in the console.
